17. Girlpool - “Before The World Was Big”

Sometimes procrastination seems to fit into the divine and cosmic plan, because this song is all the more apt given our current state of affairs in 2017. The world can seem so big sometimes all the time - but especially now. Its hard to know what to do when you feel the weight of the world weighing down on you, constricting your hopes and dreams and crushing your ideologies. You feel so small, inept and ultimately powerless. I wish I could reassure you that that’s not the case, but it is. It’s a shitty place to be, and there is no easy answer, no magical rainbow to take you away from the doom and gloom that is reality. I still find myself cringing every time I remember who our POTUS is, and what a POS he is at that, but reality is what you make it. It may be pleasant to wrap yourself in the warm glow of nostalgia, but its not a solution, its a coping mechanism. So let’s use the past to motivate the future. The world is big, but so are we when we all act together.
