3. Majical Cloudz - “Downtown”

This song is like a rapturous stream of consciousness. It carries that special euphoric and gelatinous glow of true love, within which your thoughts are so taken aback that they’re no longer sure if they’re even based in reality or that you’re truly living the life you find yourself within. It’s overwhelmingly simple yet surreal, holding a dreamlike quality of elusive buoyancy, as if time itself has slowed, and you’re simply stuck in awe of the moment - struck by it, to the point that every sensation becomes drawn out and exaggerated. You’re caught in the sticky gravity of love, like molasses seeping up to take hold of your soul, inundating it with light until it crystallizes and radiates throughout your entire being.

It reminds me of those rare moments that you successfully manage to tune out all of the pointless static of life. You momentarily remove yourself from the chaos and insanity of the world as it’s rushing past you, and find yourself amidst sacred clarity, staring straight into an almighty moment of actual existence. You briefly exist apart from the river of time, and as you’re floating above the raging current, you no longer have any past worries or future cares. All that surrounds you is the warmth of the present, and in that singular moment of the all-encompassing now, you suddenly realize the sheer weight of everything you possess. In that instance, there is no lingering or constricting darkness, there’s just the overwhelming light of your life. It’s a moment that’s both eternal and evanescent. You dive into the beauty of it, bathing and basking in the existence that you’ve been given and the love that surrounds, swaddles and suspends you. It all mingles with your soul, and you’re reminded of just how lucky you are to have the life that you live everyday.
