38. Deerhunter - “Living My Life”

This is a song about finally breaking through life’s barriers. The barriers both within and outside of ourselves. It’s triumphant. It’s shedding all the expectations and pressures of the world, the fears and anxieties, the limitations imposed by everything we come in contact with, everything we love and hate. It’s about being you, about excepting yourself and realizing that you’re alive, that life is within your grasp and as long as you’re holding onto it you’re responsible for it, you can change you it. It’s the surge of confidence that swells up in a mind vacated of anxiety and depression, the resounding clarity that all of a sudden materializes when you stumble out of the fog that’s bogged you down for so long. It’s empowering. It’s a mantra of self-actualization, a simple affirmation of the infinitely complex, because we all have a tendency of over complicating our existence.
