38. Kevin Morby - “Dorothy”

This jam is soaked in the commotion of moment. It has an expansive or grand feeling to it, as if you were to wake up and suddenly be able to see all of the subatomic particles humming and flying around you. You can feel the nostalgia of every second passing you by, perpetually drifting from the present into the ever-receding and untouchable past. It’s a bit hectic – maybe even exhausting, but there’s also an exuberance to it, as if you’re riding the wave of life, getting beaten and battered, and yet loving every moment of it. It’s the embodiment of carpe diem, of being present and recognizing yourself as an infinitesimal yet integral piece of the overwhelming and unwinding whole.
