64. Japanese Breakfast - “Till Death”


There’s a timeless quality to this jam, as if you could insert it into any era and it would belong – and I don’t only mean that stylistically speaking, but content-wise as well. It’s captures the human experience, that underlying thread that somehow holds each generation together despite all of the apparent change and discord that evolution and progress entails. It’s simultaneously suffocated by sadness and buoyed by hope, rising onto crests and falling into troughs as it determinedly meanders forward. It reminds me of a montage, as if you could set it to anybody’s love life, or maybe just life in general, and it would narrate the experience perfectly, almost as if it speaks a universal language, capturing the emotion and thought that propels us all through our own unique, and yet somehow shared, experience of reality.
