72. Florist - “Glowing Brightly”

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Florist several times over the past year, and let me say, she’s just as endearing in person as she is in her songs. She’s an entire package of introverted perfection, meaning she’s simultaneously and effortlessly awkward, witty, serene, and incisive. Her mind has a way of turning subconscious musings into poetry, of tapping into the collective subconscious and giving words to the indescribable yet defining moments of normalcy within each and every one of our daily lives. There’s a timid insight to her music, like someone who has an analogy or metaphor for every speechless moment of awe or stumbling attempt to put feeling, memory, and desire into language. Only she’s mumbling the insight from the corner, barely perceptible and self-effacing, staring at the floor as if she herself is unsure of what exactly it is she’s saying. She’s simply a conduit to the spiritual – a perpetual observer and gifted listener, communing with the unknown and revealing its beauty one understated song at a time.
