80. Blood Orange – “Augustine”
This track is like a cinematic drive by. It holds a beauty so pure that its existence is destined to seem too short. Kind of like watching a memory as it blurrily streaks by right outside your consciousness. It’s a fleeting bliss, full of hints of what could be, like drowning and approaching the cusp of enlightenment, only to be resuscitated and find yourself sucked back into the confines of a cold and sopping body. However, despite the return of your parochial existence, you can still taste the beauty and sublimity of what once was. It’s hard to remember the specifics of course, but the feeling is undeniable. It struck something deep down within you, something that for lack of a better word can only be called the soul. It’s as if another world momentarily opened and you gained a glimpse of the infinite. The ethereal became tangible, imprinted upon you, and the existential Presque-vu it left behind is enough to make you believe, and keep you forever seeking after it.
