90. Gaelynn Lea - “Someday We’ll Linger In The Sun”
This track is a haunting beauty. It has a cinematic quality to it, creating an environment through which scenes unfold to the sound of her somber score. It plods and flows all at once, wrapping the imagination within the brittle warmth of her violin and yet somehow keeping the listener standing within the freezing cold. It’s emotional and intimate, layered with a depth that one can get lost within as her ethereal voice calls out from the distance, off stage and removed, foreign almost in its unique styled cadence. It’s a soundscape all of its own. It slows everything down and forces the listener to take their time with it. To confront everything that it has to offer, walk with it and maybe even twirl in some sort of slow motion waltz as it draws you in ever closer and then lets you go gently.
