92. Suzie - “Isn’t It Funny?”

This track is vintage Chillwave, so much so that it transcends the barrier separating the present from those glorious days of yore to fit right in with its progenitors. It’s akin to hopping into a time machine. As soon as the synths, saxophone and reverb laden vocals strike your senses it takes you on a ride, helping you pass through synapses of thought and associative memory to stumble out within the warm glow of the past.

I know it probably goes without saying, but there will forever be something glorious about Chillwave to me, something that hearkens back to simpler times and makes me feel as if I’m skating through the sky, soaking up the sun without a care in the world, passing through copious clouds of sweet marijuana-tinted smoke and swaddled by youth. It’s not a bad feeling to return to every now and then.
