34. Colleen Green - “Deeper Than Love”

This song functions as a contemporary philosophical treatise on modern Millenial love, which is a fancy way of saying its getting high and going through a romantic existential crisis. It’s a look back at the vulnerabilities and shortcomings of a society that puts entirely too much focus on the immediacies of life. It’s a short term mindset finally confronting long term consequences. It’s baser instincts wrestling with the enchantment of the human psyche. It’s neither negative or positive, it’s just honest.

Everyone has felt these thoughts. Everyone sets themselves up for failure thinking of forever while confined within the present, constantly seeking out the greenest pasture, rather than looking down at their own two feet, embracing the moment and seeing that the pasture they’re standing in is pretty dang green itself. There is no greener pasture. There’s just you standing in one giant pasture, you water it, and every little step you take is one step closer to forever, cause forever isn’t the future, forever is composed of ever little moment that makes up the ever-evolving present. You’re already in forever. Don’t let the future haunt your present, build that future with your present.
