52. Porches - “Glow”

This jam is like watching as the tether of love that connects two individuals tears and splits apart. It captures the moment perfectly, somehow wedding together a brittle and echoing anxiety with a sort of chill and apathetic nonchalance. It’s earnest and distant all at once, and the combination of the two is what makes the track so magnetic. It harbors all the languid turmoil of modern love. The sort of subdued passion all of us millennial’s have been forced to exercise at one point or another. It’s passion cocooned within a veil of uncertainty, passion kept at arms length, almost as if passion is somehow something to be ashamed of. It’s unhealthy and yet pragmatic – a mind fuck melting the barrier between fiction and reality, wants and needs, humanity and animalism, romance and asceticism.
